Selene-Charcoal by buzzbo Selene-Charcoal by buzzbo
Portrait of the beautiful Kate Beckinsale in Underworld(awesome movie if only for Kate Beckinsale). Anyway, done in charcoal. I don't know about everyone else, but trying to draw a likeness of a beautiful actress is one of the hardest things for me because everyone knows what they look like and since they are sooooo good looking it's real easy to notice the smallest error. Oh well, I think this one turned out better than most of the ones I've done. Let me know what you think.

I absolutely LOVE the contrast between the fragile, pale face and the wildish animalistic hair! Gah, I would die to draw in charcoal like that :D

Really like the use of dark and light. Charcoal is wonderful and messy. Nice work. :)

That's my favorite part about using charcoal and drawing major shadows, you get to blend it into oblivion. Thanks for the fav as well!

I agree with you, about having such a beautiful subject to draw/paint/whatever. I still have problems trying to draw/paint/sketch out both people and things I see as beautiful. But you shouldn't worry- you definitely captured her beauty in this portrait. It's real, you can feel the emotion in her face, the look she is giving.

Anyway, amazing job. =)

Yet another masterpiece by Brandon! Yay! The light and dark contrast is amazing, how'd you erase the charcoal so well? And it's been said but it's worth mentioning again: that hair is awesome!
